The agony and the ecstasy of impending motherhood

Imagine that weird in-between place where you can be construed as either really gutty or possibly pregnant, coupled with a pizza face that breaks out worse than during those awkward teen years, and there's a mental picture of where I'm at right now. I have some maternity clothes at this stage, but I'm still donning regular clothes and shoving them underneath my waistline so that I don't have to feel a waistband constricting my perpetually-nauseated stomach.

I contacted a former Ricks College roommate who is now a nurse and she suggested that I take a combination of 1/2 a Unisom tablet (a sleep aid) with some vitamin B6 and presto, some days I almost feel human! I had seen that remedy mentioned in various morning sickness Google searches, but had wondered how a sleep aid could suppress nausea. The evening of the same day, Chad told me that his coworker had suggested the very same remedy. I find it interesting that when I asked my doctor about how to combat morning sickness, his only suggestion was to go the prescription drugs route. When I called his office about taking Unisom and B6, I spoke with a nurse and she gave me the thumbs up. It takes the edge off the nausea. The Unisom makes me feel a bit woozy at times.

I had my first ultrasound recently and the medical professionals have deemed our unborn child to "probably" be a girl. I'm so excited, it's like a live doll you can dress up, right? Chad is excited too and he's going to be such a great dad to a daughter. We were given a DVD of the ultrasound and it's beautiful and strangely alien-like at the same time! We're thinking of watching it every Halloween as a family tradition. What do you think?

How exciting! I still want to see pictures!

I don't think you could ever be construde as gutty!

Crazy that your dr had never heard of the unisom/B6 stuff! Not that I have but still you'd think the dr should be up on all this stuff! ;)

I think that the doctor knowing omitted the Unisom & B6 suggestion. I would much rather treat morning sickness with an inexpensive OTC remedy rather than shelling out for a prescription. Thank heaven for friends who have been through this and can offer help!
