I promised Mom I'd give her this recipe

Spinach Orange Salad

1/4 cup sliced almonds
4 tsps white sugar

Place in skillet over medium heat and stir constantly until sugar and almonds are lightly browned. (Or just spread just the almonds into a single layer on a cookie sheet and broil until they smell good and look toasted.) Set aside.

Fresh spinach, washed, dried and chilled (enough for 6-8 people)
1 cup thin cut celery
2 Tbs chopped green onions
1 can mandarin oranges, drained

Set aside.

Dressing

1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbs white sugar
2 Tbs white vinegar
1 Tbs parsley
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Dash Tabasco Sauce

Shake until mixed.

Toss all ingredients together and serve immediately.

♥ That sounds really good. I wasn't expecting the dash of tabasco though!

Quite honestly, I've never added it.

That looks like a great recipe! Anyway, thanks for the Brittany's Book Club idea. I have been meaning to list some of my favorite books, but haven't gotten to it yet. That will make a great name. Well Anita Stansfield- I have read quite a few of her books. I think they are good for a summer read, when there is lots of time to fill. Maybe when you have a new baby. I liked the ones about Emily Hamilton the best, but find myself laughing at them when she isn't intending humor. Often wondering why I am reading them and almost embarrassed to admit it. They can be quite sappy and repetitive. I will list a few of my fave's today if you are looking for new ideas. Hope your feeling well!

Orange in a Spinach salad!!! Aaaahhh! Teresa told me the other day that I was sick because I wanted to put peanuts in my mashed potatoes. Like Amelie's dad would say, "Je ne compranais pas!"

Thanks for sharing, Heather! You are a great cook, so I'll have to try it for sure.

As far as egg whites go, you separate them (I do two, but I bet you'd only need one--is your hair still short?) add a teaspoon of sugar to it, then whip it up like the consistency of moose. Add it to your hair when it's still wet (but not sopping) then use a diffuser to dry it and voila! You have curly hair! Let me know how it works!! It takes a few times to get the hang of it. If I can answer any questions about it, let me know. Good luck! How are you feeling these days?
