Childbirth Prep Classes: Can one truly be prepared?

I start Childbirth Preparation classes tonight. Yep, it's a bit late to be starting at 36 weeks along but I put it off because I still feel sick every day. Hopefully I can get through this 2 1/2 hour class tonight. Hopefully they us give regular bathroom breaks. Ugh.

The instructions are to wear "comfortable clothing." Does that mean my slip-on shoes that I don't have to bend over and tie, coupled with gray sweat capris that I have deemed my "Episiotomy Pants" and my husband's soft T-shirt that is stretched tightly over my belly, but still long enough to cover my tummy? Or do I need to comb my hair, put on some mascara and my actual going-out-in-public maternity capris that constrict my waist? And athletic shoes that I have to bend over and tie while grunting and breathing short breaths?

Oh, the decisions.

You do and wear whatever you feel like! Its not like you need to impress any of these people. The other women who dressed up for the class will feel stupid and dress down next time. Good Luck!

sounds like you've already passed the class? just bend over and tie your shoes ... and you breath short breathes? It's that what Lamaze is all about?!!? Don't listen to me ... I've never gone through it. good luck! Be as comfy as possible!

I think they'll just tell you to wear a muumuu. They're ugly, but they look soooo comfortable!

I'm all about the more comfy you are, the better. I'm sure most of the other women in the class are thinking the same thing. At this point, all you have to do is give someone "the look" (you know the "I'm 36 weeks pregnant how dare you ask me to put anymore effort into getting ready, I'm here aren't I??!!") If anyone says anything about it. which they won't.
