I caved today and started reading the first book of the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Everyone raves about these books, so when in Rome...

I visited the baby doc today and caved and requested prescription anti-nausea meds and was prescribed "Phenergan." I just want to feel human again and the Unisom/B6 hasn't been working. The nurse asked me if I can feel the baby moving. I think so, I don't know what constitutes baby's movements vs. normal bodily activity. If this is the case then baby may have had the hiccups last night. I wonder if she, at 22 weeks in utero, can experience something like hiccuping.

My mother telephoned and she again wondered if I had my heart set on the name Maura/Mora for my daughter. She's excited to be a grandmother for the first time and has rented baby name books from the library. Chad likes her suggestion of "Miles" for a boy's name.

She brought up a good point- people may mispronounce Maura as "Mara" with a short a sound, and the name "Nora" is always spelled with an o. I thought it would be so easy once I chose a name, but now I am tied up in a debate over the spelling. The poor kid will have to spell out her last name anyway. I have a follow-up ultrasound in about 6 weeks, so I'd better be sure this kid is going to be a girl before I give the name debate any more energy.

I finished reading Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles. I'm always disappointed when I finish his books because I want them to go on forever. I love his books and this one is definitely a favorite now. I started reading him when Return of the Native was required for high school English and I fell in love with it (Megan-have you read it yet? You borrowed my treasured copy! You have to read it!). I love that a man living during the stuffy Victorian era can write a scandalous book about a woman judged harshly for something which she had no fault in causing. And yet she is such an innocent and sympathetic character. It's definitely a page-turner.
